Applelust is looking to add writers to its staff. If you
are interested or want to be part of the Applelust community, drop us
a line with your resume or vita. We are always on the look out for good,
very smart, and reliable people to join the staff. If you think you have
what it takes, let us know.
We like to read. Why do you think we write such long articles? Ahem ... anyway, we are doing book reviews and suggesting reading from the articles we write, as well as general book suggestions and reviews on many topics the Mac user may find helpful. We have teamed up with O'Reilly Press, and other major publishers, who will be sending us books, lots and lots of books! As we receive them, read them, we will tell you about them. This includes pointing out the suggested audiences for the books we look at. We will also include books we have mentioned in OpEd articles, ranging in topics from web design to philosophy, history, and social criticism.
Want to know who we are and why we are here doing this? This is the place to go. It includes our mission statement, a brief history, and contact information for all staff and associates. Fuller biographies can be found at each writer's home page as well. If you are interested in writing for us, or in sponsorship, you can go to this page can contact the webmaster.
We have a strong belief
in Community
here at Applelust. Being part of a community
is one of the great things about being
a Mac user! To promote it even more
we have provided forums for you. we
call them "Rooms" though.
They cover general Mac issues, feedback
to our writers, and a "Think about
It" room in which we pose a question
to our audience. Like any community
leaders, we are protective of our community.
Wintel flamers and rabblerousers will
be dealt with accordingly. So, have
fun, but mind you manners! : )
There are hundreds of other Mac sites out there. Many are good, but we leave that for you to judge. But we have always said the more the merrier, and the death of a Mac web site is never something to be happy about. On this page you will find a list of links we like as well as helpful links to venders and other areas of interest. we are working on some, well .. esoteric, links for your edification as well. Submit link requests on our links page so you can read the standards we use in linking from that page.
What good is a Mac without extra add-ons and software? Not much. Well, they're still nice to look at anyway! (Except maybe the Flower Power ones.) But what should you get and what should you avoid? Where should your hard-earned money go? Here we will provide reviews of major products, as well as shareware products, and hardware you might find useful. For high-end products we write an "In Depth" series on the products. We also have a Photoshop Plugins review database section in the works. When we write these we always ask, "What would I have to know to make a decision about this product?", making our reviews very user friendly. If a high-end product demands a pro we go out and get one to do the review. If you wish to see something reviewed let us know.
We offer a subscription service for you. If
you sign up for this you will receive an email
notice when there is something new at the site.
We won't flood your mailbox or anything, but
will send out notices about weekly. Also, rest
assured that we will in no way disclose your
email address to anyone. In fact, the only one
who sees it is our webmaster. Privacy
is important.
