Some of us are academics and we read, and read a lot. We love books! We will review Mac-related books for all kinds of areas. Also, many times we recommend books or refer to them in our articles. These are not just Mac books either. We have referred to philosophical books, computer books, and all kinds of books in our articles. Sometimes we'll do a mini review of them.

  • "Developing Bioinformatics Computer Skills" (8-16-02) Bryan William Jones. Bryan reviews a book designed for the bioscientist or student interested in the field of bioinformatics.
  • "Dreamweaver 4 – The Missing Manual" (3-22-02) Kate Wolfe-Jenson. How well does this book live up to its claim that it is useful to readers at every technical level?
  • "Cocoa Programming for Mac OS X" (2-13-02) Mike Vannorsdel. An introduction to both Cocoa and Objective-C. Does it succeed?
  • "Learning Cocoa" by O'Reilly Press. (8-24-01). Mike looks at this books and asks, "Are we learning yet?"
  • "Missing Manual: Office 2001" (7-30-01) Pierre Igot. Office 2001 - The Missing Manual attempts to fill the enormous gap left by the absence of any kind of printed manual for Microsoft Office 2001. Does it succeed? Pierre Igot takes a close look at the book.
  • Learning Carbon. (7-2-01) Mike V. takes a look at this serious programming book for OS X programmers.
  • Learning Unix with O'Reilly. (6-30-01) David Schultz. In the frst part of his series on O'Reilly's UNIX books, Dave gives an overview of the set of O'Reilly UNIX books that are helpful to the Mac user using OS X. Later he will look at each in depth.
